John Galliano
His designs are always designed in a way where no one would wear. Why do you think he designs this way?
I think it is because he wants to have his own unique style. Nowadays, people tend to follow the trend which means whatever oufits are popular, people will just follow it. People don't have their own style of clothings anymore. It makes fashion became a boring and "cliche" thing since people are not trying to change it. Through his designs, it could show John Galliano has the courage to make special and extraordinary clothes. He used really obvious and shiny colour that if you wear it, people would stre at your outfits. I guess this is how John Galliano creates new fashion design and tell people that, people should have their own style on dressing. Everyone is different and we should stop copying one another dressing style. In addition, the way he designs and views the world got influenced by his own mother. His mom is a Spianish. When they were going to Spain, they had to take a boat. When they were in Tangier, he remembered the smell, the colour and the market there. His mother also taught him how to dance flamenco since she was a flamenco teacher which is a Spainish dace. The rhythm of it is really fast and lively. His mom had been talking about art and dances since he was young. When he was small, his mom elaborate dressed him and his two sisters up, his hair even got slicked back. His mom even brought him out with ridiculous or hilarious oufits. John Galliano even got teased by his friends. However, this caused him beame even more bold and creative. I think because of this, he started to make different style of designs due to his mind ot influenced by his mom and the Spainish culture. I also thing he is passionate about creating new things and ideas that is why he never cares about how others think. He creates whatever he wants to which seek a lot of attractions from people.
Dressing up. People just don't do it anymore. We have to change that.
Who do you think the "people" is? Do you think he is talking about the modern designers who fear making extraordinary designs. Explain your thoughTs.
I personally think John Galliano was talking about the modern designers and us at the same time. They know when they create different style than the "normal" ones, people will not wear them. Because of that, the modern designers started to change their own styles and followed the "trend" instead. People started to change cause they don't have the guts or courage to create new ideas. Some of the designers might be worried about how others look at them in different perspetives. They care about how people think so much that nowadays, fashions became so "cliche". The designs are very similar to others and at times, you can't tell which one is whose design. For normal people like us, since people don't dress up anymore, it will be odd if we dress up. Most of us don't want to get stared in public by others in a weird or awkward way. This leads to people wear whatever others wear. They call it "trend", but in fact, it is just copying others' dressing styles. To be honest, I personally love to dress up as differing characters or wear speical costumes. Instead of making us ordinary, why don't we be the special ones? We should embrace our unique sides and show that being bold is not a bad thing. I sometimes wear special costumes with my friends during hangouts and surprisingly, it was actually not bad. I think people should do whatever they want and be themselves. Dressing up does not mean you can't be stylish or have a good fashion sense!
