Sunday- February 7, 2015
This will be our first day working physically on this project. We will meet around 1 in Kowloon Tong and buy all the materials in supermarket. Afterwards, we would go to Hayley's house for the project.
Materials we need:
-HB pencils
-Yellow flowers
-Lemon
-Corn
-Candy
2:00-5:00pm
First one is breadsticks and egg, the background would be in the kitchen. The outter side of the sun would be breadsticks and the middle part would be an egg.
Second one would be lemon and the background would be kitchen as well. It will be on a baking sheet above a rack.
Third one we thought of using clothes to form a sun, we will roll the clothes in order to make the outer part of the sun. The background will be on the bed.
Fourth one would be HB pencils and we will use desk as the background since it is related to stationary.
Fifth one would be flowers and the background is in a green grass field. But it depends on the weather, since if it rains we might not take pictures during that day.
The last one would be corn and the background will be in a grass field as well to express a theme of "nature".
February 4-14 (During New Year Holiday)
We will work on the project during the holiday. We will meet after school just to do the candy photo since there is a playground near the school. Afterwards, we would go to Hayley's house to do cupcakes' photo.
Materials we need-

We would do the candy pictures and the background will be in a playground as I said earlier. For the cupcakes photos, the background would be in the kitchen. If we could finish all the pictures by then, we would edit the pictures by ourselves.
Tuesday- MArch 2,2016
We will finish off the pictures and we will print all the processed pictures out.
This is the basic ideas of our group project.
The first one I would use the flowers as a material, we would cut the flowers and remove the stems. We only need the petals part since we are going to choose yellow ones so it could somehow relate it to the colour of Sun's colour since it is yellowish orange. The theme is sun so we tried our best to relate it to the nature, we would choose a grassfield in a ourdoor stadium and put the petals on the grass. This could make a compare and contrast since the bright yellow will stand out when the background is in dull colour.
Moreover, the second one will be using pencils. Obviously, if you study and work hard, you would have a bright future and that is why we use pencils as the material. I would be in the picture, holding a book. We will the use pencils to create the shape of the sun. The background will possibly be in Hayley's bedroom or her working desk.
The third one we used the concept of bread and egg. We would put sliced toasts on a plate or a kitchen pan and the middle part is going to be an egg yolk in order to symbolise "Sun". Since the egg yolk is bright orange, people would think of the sun right away. The background would be either on a plate or kitchen pan in the kitchen or dining room since it is related to food as well.
The fourth one will be using dried corn. This is similar to the flowers one since we are choosing things that are yellow. We thought yellow and orange would be the best two colours in order to represent the sun. We would put most of the dried corn on a plate. Afterwards, we would make a shape of sun and put them on the bridge which people will usually walk by.
The fifth one will be using the M&Ms. As we want to express that the sun gives children are positive impressions, We will use candies or chocolates. Obviously, we chose M&Ms. They will be placed on a place and the rest will be around the plate. The concept is similar to the breads and eggs as well. The background will be on a running track in a stadium since there are kids around it.
The last one will be using lemons since we were looking for yellow food as our main material. We would literally cut the lemons and create the shape of the sun and put them on a table in the kitchen. The background will be in the kitchen and showing all the knifes, forks or snacks hanging behind, We would be the cutting board beside so people who look at the pictures will know that the back ground is in the kitchen instantly.
Final Works
We brought two packs of M&Ms and went to a stadium nearby. At first, we were planning to put the M&Ms on the grass field but since there are a lot of colours in M&M. People might not be able to see the symbol clearly so we moved to them to the running track instead. We used a paper plate to contain the M&Ms, and in order to make a "sun". We put 5 M&Ms each side and took it on a running track. It was quite hard to control the lighting and the angles since it was around late 5pm back then and the sunlight was really weak.
Corns actually represent the increase and blessing of the harvest. Sunshin is the important natural resource in producing harvest. We thought of using corns and made a sun in order to show the meaning.We brought a bag of dried corn and went to the bridge near Hayley's house. Surprisingly,as you can see in the picture above, the sunlight somehow made the shadows.We managed to make use of the shadows and create a different feeling for the picture since we made use of sunshine which is our main theme.
We brought a bunch of flowers and we used scissors to remove the stems. We only needed the petals part. We put the petals on the grass field. Since we got a bright yellow flowers, it stands out on the dark green grass field. It was a bit hard to make them coz that day, the weather was windy and whenever we take pictures, the petals started to move to other places. Eventually we managed to make them stay still and took a picture.
When we first chose our theme which is Sun, we thought of choosing food that are yellow. We chose lemons and we cut them into four pieces and made a sun just like what we did to others. We wanted to show the background since this is related to food. We put them on a movable kitchen table.
We thought of breakfast will always be the first meal of the day, which gives human energy to work. It is just like sun since without sun, plants won't grow and it produces life. We first put the toast into the toasters for around 3 minutes. We fried an egg and removed everythig but not the egg yolk. It was actually quite hard to put the egg yolk into the plate since it is really easy to break it. We cut the toasts into slices and put them with the egg yolk like the photo above.
As we all know, since we are students, me and Hayley came up with this idea. We decided to connect our theme with studying. We used pencils to show that if you study, it would give you a bright future. This could clearly show the message of that using pencils to make a "sun".
