Do you feel offended that the cup this year isn't expressive to the holiday spirit? Why or why not?
I will not get offended by the cup design even though it was not expressing the Christimas spirit. The cup is just a tool to contain the baverage. People should not focus on the cup design tht much. As long as Starbucks provides good coffee drinks, people should not really complain. In addition, a lot of companies wanted to attract customers. They put a lot of focus on decorating the cup design. Eventually, people would only like the cup desgin more than the actual design.Indeed yes, people might feel happier or feel the "Christmas" sprit when they drink the baverage but I do not think there is a need to care about the cup design so much. Without the characters that represent Christmas does not mean Christmas is no longer existing. Moreover, stay simple or plain could actually make people remember the company more than actually putting a lot of decorations of the cup design. If people feel offended for not having "Christmassy" things on the cup, then how about the people or atheiests who don't celebrate Christmas? Won't they get offended as well? In my opinion, the red cup is actually great since it is mutual, it's not biased in any side.
Do you think the matter was blown out of the proportion.
In my opinion, people are actually over-reacting about it. The matter was totally blown out of the proportion. In fact, it is actually ridiculous that people got offended cause of a simple red cup. People are literally thinking too much and that leads to an argument. Everyone has their own perpespective or different opinions, they should not get mad just because of having different opinions with others. People are being so fussy and make it into a big deal. It is actually very selfish of them and being self-centered for complaining since Starbucks has the right to do whatever they want. Starbucks cup design could not satisfy everyone which people should actually accept. It is their choice if they don't want expressive Christmas spirit on the cup.
If you had to redesign the red cup to appease Joshua and non-Christians, how would design it? Sketch and explain it.
Even though the cup design seems a bit cliche, I think this is the most direct way to show people that staying peace and love are more important than having their own opinions. People tend to argue about this but they actually forget about the real meaning of celebrating Christmas. People should not get mad just becase of a design. Moreover, Starbucks has the freedom and authority to creat their own cup design. Therefore, people should care about peace and love more than the red cup.
