Zdzislaw Beksinski

Many people interpreted his art to have a dark and grim atmosphere, he believed they were "optimistic and even funny', can you try and see what he sees?

In my own perspective, his artworks are quite gloomy and depressing. His artworks give people a negative feelings. Look at the picture beside, I would not call it funny or optimistic but it is kind of a awkward angle to draw a woman figure. The entire artwork is in black colour and you could not see her face clearly. It gives people a feeling of mysterious or a deeper meaning. In the another piece of artwork, behind the crawling man, it was sparkling fires. It seems more like a chao than humour. The man is crawling on the ground and showing his bones out. His head is covered so we could not exactly know his expressions.I think most of the people would not think chaos as  a optimistic thing to happen and that is why I would definitely not call his artworks funny.

What parts of the visual makes it not seem optimistic and funny?

As I said, his artworks are really dark and always use the colour of black. They are mostly contemporary art.  Most of the people in his artworks are skinny and bony. In his artworks, there are always skulls or fires which made his artworks quite negative.
